Why it is important

This course has been created to bridge communication difficulties with hearing families and Deaf family members. It will give you the knowledge, basic skills and confidence to communicate in British Sign Language (BSL). You will learn simple, everyday sign language covering a range of topics.   If you wish, you can take exams and obtain the BSL level 1 certificate through Signature!     T&C's apply

At Deaf Positives Action, we deliver first rate training using hands-on experience, presentations and video clips. All our courses are interactive and are taught in a relaxed, friendly and encouraging environment.

Dates for the diary!

The week-day classes will run between 6pm - 8pm. 
The Saturday class will run from 10am - 2pm.
If you would like to take the exams at the end of the course to obtain your BSL certification, there will be a cost.  The exam dates are:
    28th November 2018  
      5th December 2018

      Qualification aim

      This qualification is designed to teach you to communicate with Deaf people in British Sign Language (BSL) on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language use. 

      You will gain basic skills and confidence in production and reception of BSL.

      Why learn BSL?

      At the end of the qualification, you will be able to:
      - understand and use a limited range of simple words and sentences in BSL
      - take part in simple, everyday conversations in BSL
      - give and follow simple directions or instructions in BSL
      - give and follow simple familiar statements or descriptions in BSL

      Who is it suitable for?

      If you have friends and family and want to learn basic language skills to communicate simple conversations with

      Any age can attend, even under 16 years.  (We recommend bringing an adult).
